FOR STARTERS: NJCU is seeking its first win of the season. Ramapo, the lone New Jersey Athletic Conference school idle last Tuesday in conference play, opens its 2014 NJAC slate tonight.

THE SERIES vs. RAMAPO: Ramapo College leads the all-time series 24-18. They have also won the last seven matches against NJCU.

LAST MEETING: On October 3, 2013 in Mahwah, NJ. Ramapo defeated NJCU 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-11). Cindy Garcia surpassed double figures in digs with 11, which was her 39th time in her career in that defensive category. Ramapo’s Cathryn Smart had a match-high eight kills, while hitting .286 (8-2-21) with four aces and two blocks. Ramapo’s setter, Kaitlin Mac Iver dished 17 assists, seven digs and two aces.

LAST TIME OUT: On September 16, NJCU faced William Paterson University in their home opener and could not come out with the victory. Senior middle hitter, Jade Medley reached double figures in kills for the ninth time in a three-set contest with 11, while hitting .156 (11-6-32). Other standouts for NJCU include freshman setter Rachel McIntyre who delivered 23 assists and senior outside hitter Marissa Scarpa who finished with eight digs and three aces.

BELIEVE IN JADE: NJCU Senior middle hitter, Jade Medley, has been nothing but spectacular this season for her Gothic Knights. She is fourth overall in the NJAC in kills per game with an average of 3.67 per set and is also seventh in points per game with 3.83. Her teammates look to her and will continue to do so throughout the season.

ABOUT RAMAPO COLLEGE: The Road Runners come into Jersey City 11-4 while winning three out of the last four matches. Their last match was against Hunter college–a 3-1 win (25-17, 25-19, 14-25, 25-15). Emily Guzman leads the team with 28 blocks with Larysa Iwaskiw coming second with 12. Larysa Iwaskiw leads the team with 273 total kills, 5.35 per set, and 236 digs, 4.63 per set.
